It's funny how God works in my life. We just happened to be visiting my parents on the weekend a family reunion just happened to be scheduled (which we knew nothing about, but gladly attended). My mom happened to mention our pending adoption to an extended family member who happened to just get off the phone that morning with a friend also adopting from Ethiopia, devestated because they withdrew their paperwork that day.
I don't know this heartbroken friend, but she was willing to call me and tell me her story. Her experience led me to investigate my own situation and I'm afraid we have much in common. We both work with reputable adoption agencies working with Ethiopia. We both want girls between the ages of 3 months - 2 years. We've jumped through the same legal hoops to get our paperwork prepared and ready. Thousands of dollars have been poured into the process. And lastly, we are both realizing due to government changes in processing adoptions, the anticipated new wait time is grossly extended beyond what we can do; coupled with the possibility that the 03-24 month old child assigned to you may remain in an orphanage for years until can get her.
We have made no decisions to withdraw. Honestly, Chad and I are in shock-mode, still gathing information. More than ever, it's time to be prayerful about God's agenda in our lives with this new development. It's time to seek His face fervently in this matter about how to continue.
We covet your partnership in this with us.
